Academic experiences

-        Principle investigator of the first module of research project on Adolescent Health and its Antecedents among an urbanized population of Vietnamese youth: a longitudinal study in Chililab, Hai Duong province, Vietnam (on going activity) 

-        Principle investigator of the research project on Pilot Audio-Computer Assisted Self-Interview on Adolescent Health in Gialam District, Hanoi.

-        Researcher/Demographer of the project on Demographic Epidemiologic Surveillance System at Chi Linh district – Hai Duong province (Chililab). Responsible for research instruments development and demographic surveillance questionnaire design, team member for software development for demographic and statistical data analysis.

-        Program Officer of the project “Strengthen Public Health Capacity for HIV Prevention and Care Activities in Vietnam” (supported by CDC / Global AIDS Program – US Government ; CDC’s announcement # 04283), in charge of Data Management of HIV Surveillance system. (on going activity) 

-        Key coordinator of the project “Social science fellowships for doctoral study in Medical Sociology, Health Economics and Medical Anthropology”, supported by Ford Foundation, in collaboration with Center for Educational Exchanges with Vietnam. (on going activity) 

-        Key facilitator of Bachelor of Public Health curriculum development group – HSPH, from 2001 to 2004. Development team member of modules on for Demography, Medical Anthropology, Qualitative Methods, Biostatistics and Data Analysis, Reproductive Health, Injury Epidemiology for the new curriculum of Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) training in Hanoi School of Public Health.  

-        Key coordinator of the project “Strengthening Social Sciences and Reproductive Health Training and Research Capacity at Hanoi School of Public Health”, supported by Ford Foundation. (on going activity)

-        Key researcher of the Center for Injury Policy and Prevention Research (CIPPR) - Hanoi School of Public Health, from April 2002 to present. Prior to the establishment of the CIPPR, worked as the key researcher of the Vietnam Multi-center Injury Survey - VMIS (conducted in Vietnam in August-October 2001, and June 2002), responsible for sampling design and weighting scheme, statistical and demographic data analysis. 

-        Key member of Information Technology group - Hanoi School of Public Health. (1999-2002) 

-        Head of Field Training Coordination Office (FTC) – Hanoi School of Public Health from November 2000 to November 2001. Member of this office from August 1998 to 2005. Key responsibilities: supervisor and coordinator of field research activities of students in master of public health training program, short training courses for health professionals programs and distance learning courses.  

-        Head of Dept. of Demography, from 2001 to present. Thesis advisor of MPH student (from May 2003 to present).  

-        Visiting lecturer in different courses on: Basic computer skills, Biostatistics, Data analysis using SPSS and STATA software; Injury Epidemiology, etc. (August 1996 to present). 

-        Member of the Community Health Research Unit (CHRU) - Hanoi University of Medicine, worked with several domestic and international organizations in Vietnam (Oxfam Hong Kong, Oxfam Belgium, Danish Red Cross, etc.), August 1995 to August 1996.
