One of the great satisfactions of my job is watching people move successfully through their degrees to completion. There is no greater degree challenge, of course, than researching, writing and defending a doctoral dissertation. I am pleased to report that last week two more Payson doctoral candidates successfully defended their dissertations.

Josh Schoop defended AN ECOSYSTEM APPROACH FOR CULTIVATING CAPABILITIES:  THE CASE  OF AN INNOVATIVE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROJECT before a packed house of faculty, students and staff from all across the university — a reflection of the inter-disciplinary character of his dissertation (Josh now works with Tulane's new Social Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship Program). Josh will graduate this month.

Mark Silinsky successfully defended NATIONAL CONFIDENCE AND DEVELOPMENT IN AFGHANISTAN:  INSURGENCY VS. COUNTERINSURGENCY. Mark will graduate in May 2015.

Congratulations to both the soon-to-be Dr. Joshua Schoop and Dr. Mark Silinsky!
