Goals

  1. The participant will be able to understand the impact that IT can have on International Development.

  2. The participant will be able to distinguish what are the required individual competencies for different levels of technology literacy

  3. The participant will be able to summarize the History of Instructional Design

  4. The participant will be able to categorize the different theories of instructional design.

Objectives

1. 1. The participant will understand the origins of computing and its place in development.
1.2. The participant will know Moore's law and the implications of this principle for future activities.
1.3. The participant will be able to distinguish between first, second, third, fourth, and fifth generation information system approaches.
1.4. The participant will asses personal skills and competencies of knowledge as it relates to course and career interest
1.5. The participant will know the different uses of computer-based information systems in health and development environments.
1.6. The participant will be exposed to and know (a) accounting information systems; (b) management information systems; (c) decision support systems; (d) office automation systems or personal productivity systems; (e) expert systems.
1.7. The participant will be able to describe, define, and explain different internet based information systems and their use as they relate to user groups.

2.1. The participant will be able to distinguish individual competencies for different levels of technology literacy
