Shut Down The computer needs to be shut off in a certain way to avoid misplaced data Learn the proper procedure to turn off the computer Go to the Start Button, single left click, select "Shut down", left click, select "re-start in MS-DOS".
  Sometimes it is necessary to open up MS-Dos to run a program. Learn the proper procedure to turn off the computer and start up in MS-DOS Go to the Start Button, single left click, select "Shut down", left click, select shut down.
Run Command The Run command permits the user to open a progam by typing the file location and name Use the Run command to execute programs Go to the Start Button, single left click, select Run, click on Browse, select "C" from the top dialog box, Find "Windows" click, find Notepad.exe.  Click to select, click open, click ok.
Help The help function is a way for users to get help on various topics regarding Windows.  Many aplications will aslo have a help function Use Windows 98 Help to answer questions and learn about Windows 98 Go to the Start button and click, select help, click, select the index tab, in the dialog box, type "troubleshooting", select "startup", choose a topic and read the displayed message.
Find The find feature allows the user to search their computer for files or folders. Searching  for folders and files using the "Find Feature" in Start Go to Start button and click Find. Select Files and Folders, click.  Type in "*.doc", click on "look in" to select the location you wish to search. Use the drop down menu to selct "[C:]" Click find now, this will show you all of the Document files on your C drive.
Settings Using the settings button allows the user to change the settings on their computer (see also Control Panel). Change the setting of your computer.

    Remove the contents of the Documents menu.  
Documents The documents button shows the user the most recent "files" that the user has accessed.  It is very similar to the history button on internet Explorer Use the Document menu to open a recent file. Click on the Start Menu and select Documents.  Choose the the top file name, and it will open.
favorites The Favoirtes button show all of the shortcuts that the user has made whilke in Internet Explorer. Use the Favorite button to open a saved favorite  
Programs The Programs button lists most of the programs on the users computer. Use the program menu to open an application/program on that is on the computer. Use the Start menu to quickly start programs and open files

Task Bar The Task Bar is the horizontal bar at the bottom of the scrren, it lists all of the programs that are currently open. Displaying and moving the Taskbar

    Tiling Open Windows Arrange two application windows side-by-side on the screen.
Systems Tray   Remove a document from a printing queue.  
Quick Launch Quick Launch is a means for starting applications or going to internet locations quickly.
