TFA 2001 Learner Goals and Objectives

Be able to design and integrate a plan for the introduction of information technology into a teaching and learning plan.

Identify Information Technologies which may have appropriate uses in the developing world, and understand the benefits and drawbacks of these technologies, including:

Personal Computers

Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs, i.e. Palm Pilot, Pocket PC, eBooks)

Network Computers (also called Thin Client, programs reside on server)

Telecenters

Satellite and Wireless Technologies

Servers

Multimedia Computer and Web-Based Training (CBT/WBT)

Understand how information technology has been used by others to create innovative solutions to education in developing countries

Identify when to use technology-based or traditional approaches to learning

Design a plan incorporating these technologies into an existing curriculum

Devise technological solutions to educational problems identifying and addressing possible technological, political and social barriers

Be able to understand the process of building Technology Assisted Learning Modules (TALMs).

Understand the process used to build TALMs

Understand how identifying goals and objectives can increase student motivation and make for more effective assessments

Know the different types of objectives (knowledge, skills and competencies) and understand how they can be used to set desired levels of achievement and accurately measure student achievement

Know how personality and learning style affects learning  

Understand how "learning by doing", through exercises, simulations and role-playing, can greatly increase learner retention and help build competency 

Be able to use Windows, the Internet and email for research and communication.
