Accountability Research Project

Building upon success of previous efforts, research conducted in Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Northern Uganda, the Payson Center in collaboration with UC Berkeley Human Rights Center and the Institute for Transitional Justice designed the questionnaire, developed research protocols, collected and analyzed data and report compilation for research and victim needs assessment as well as the opinions and attitudes of the general population toward justice and its relationship to peace, reconcili

Berkeley-Tulane Initiative on Vulnerable Populations

An accountability research project based in Sudan, DRC, and Northern Uganda, the 'Berkeley-Tulane Initiative on Vulnerable Populations' conducted empirical research in order to give voice to survivors of mass violence related to war crimes, justice and reconstruction, health and human rights. The Initiative provided on-the-job training and mentorship building local capacity in data collection and analysis as the research was executed and provided fellowships to students.
