Micaela Browning

Alumna, M.S., Partners In Health
Micaela Browning

Micaela graduated from the Payson Center in May 2013, and currently works as a Health Financing Project Analyst at Partners In Health, an international health organization committed to improving the health of the poor and marginalized.

Prior to Payson, Micaela obtained a BA in Latin American Studies from the Johns Hopkins, with a semester abroad in Venezuela. After college, Micaela worked as a Colombia Team Coordinator for Amnesty International - Chile, and later moved to Brazil to help develop an online platform for favela (slum) youth to learn English.

After a brief stint working as a Research Coordinator for a healthcare ICT firm in New York, Micaela finally tired of earning an income and decided it was time to go back to school. During her time at Payson, Micaela served as a Kiva Fellow in both Mozambique and Sierra Leone, where she conducted financial and social performance audits, created a pilot solar loan program, trained local microfinance staff, and streamlined portfolio management. Now that she’s back in the professional world, of course, Micaela misses academia, and still occasionally toys with the idea of obtaining a PhD.
