Start Date:
2006
Status:
Complete
Location:
Uganda
UG
Objective:

Building upon success of previous efforts, research conducted in Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Northern Uganda, the Payson Center in collaboration with UC Berkeley Human Rights Center and the Institute for Transitional Justice designed the questionnaire, developed research protocols, collected and analyzed data and report compilation for research and victim needs assessment as well as the opinions and attitudes of the general population toward justice and its relationship to peace, reconciliation, and development.  In close collaboration with local partners, country specific surveys of over 2,000 participants (victim and non-victim) were administered by locally trained data collection specialists. Research methods included population-based and victim based surveys to assess perspectives on the various transitional justice instruments.
