About the Speaker(s):

William Bertrand is Tulane University's Senior Vice President as well as the directorof the Payson Center for International Development and Technology Transfer. He isalso the Weisner Professor of Public Health. He has done extensive work in Africain the fields of public health and development. He is the founder of the ZaireSchool of Public Health at the University of Kinshasa. He was also the principalinvestigator of the FEWS (Famine Early Warning System) project for seven famine-affected countries of Sub-Saharan Africa.

Margee Ensign is the Director of the Tulane Institute for International Development.Her expertise is in international political economy and international development. Her publications include a publication on Japanese foreign assistance titled "Doing Well or Doing Good?" Her current research interests include governance and development in Sub-Saharan Africa.
