The Guantánamo Public Memory Project is a traveling exhibit and Web site that examines the history of the U.S. naval base in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba from multiple perspectives and raises questions about U.S.-Cuban relations, civil liberties, national security, and public memory in the past, present, and future.

Guest lecture by Sofía Macher, a sociologist and activist for human rights in Peru and an international expert on transitional justice. She has been a commissioner of the Commission of Truth and Reconciliation in Peru (2001-2003), which investigated human rights violations during the insurgence of the Peruvian Communist Party, Shining Path (Sendero Luminoso) from 1980 to 2000. In 2006, Ms. Macher was appointed as president of the Reparations Council of Peru, a governmental organization that officially registers the victims of the Internal War and provides them with legal support.
