One Health to Address Human, Animal and Ecosystems Health in Central and Eastern Africa

“One Health to Address Human, Animal and Ecosystems Health in Central and Eastern Africa” in partnership with the One Health for Central and Eastern Africa (OHCEA) Secretariat located at Makerere University will expand leadership capacity development, human resources development and targeted research and community engagement activities in applied research related to One Health issues across several countries in the region through the OHCEA Secretariat. The major activities of this partnership include the management and award of competitive research grants for graduate, undergraduate and faculty at OHCEA member institutions; curriculum development; tailored short term training; and leadership capacity development all with an emphasis on women empowerment.

Technical Assistance and Training to the Rabia Balkhi Women's Hospital in Kabul, Afghanistan

Tulane University's Payson Center conducted research regarding knowledge, skills and competencies (KSC's) for teaching hospital staff in order to identify existing gaps in training and curricula materials.  The center then conducted skills assessments and an onsite review of personnel and procedures at the hospital.  Utilizing standard US human resources formulae, the team assessed gaps and recommended amelioration techniques in an effort to raise the standards of competency of the staff and health professionals.
