Nutrition in Complex Emergencies

In January of 2014, I attended a week-long workshop at Emory University through the CDC titled, "Nutrition in Complex Emergencies."  The purpose of the workshop was to learn about nutrition programs such as the World Food Programme (WFP) in complex emergencies. We learned management skills and program design to address malnutrition as well as macronutrient and micronutrient deficiencies among refugee and displaced populations. Topics included assessment, evaluation of general food rations, breastfeeding in emergencies and a case study in Syria.  I think it will directly help me in the field when I begin working.  I am grateful to the Payson Graduate Student Association for helping to make it possible.
