Internship: Cardno Emerging Markets seeks two IDEV graduate student summer interns

LLM in Law and Development Alumna, Meredith Bambrick has asked to share details with Paysonite graduate students about two internships available in the Washington, DC metro area this summer. Cardno Emerging Markets USA, Ltd. (Cardno) is currently seeking two paid summer iterns to provide program management and business development support to the Client Services Unit.  While learning about international development and working with a strong group of development professionals, you will be researching development trends and learning how to put together proposals and support international projects.  The position is based in our Arlington, VA office (located at Courthouse Metro on the Orange Line).

The Intern will be asked to undertake a variety of tasks to assist the Business Development, Infrastructure & Environment, Economic Growth, Governance, Social & Environmental Impact Management and Health practice lines, as outlined below.   In addition, the intern will be asked to support/attend meetings with staff members and relevant technical presentations and networking events in the Washington, DC area.


Job Requirements:

  • Must be a full-time student or recent graduate of a Master’s program in International Relations, Business, Public Health, Engineering, Economics, or related subject;
  • Proficiency in English and Microsoft Office required;
  • Proficiency in a second language a plus;
  • Possess some relevant international experience (through Peace Corps, prior internships, previous donor work, etc);
  • Must be able to work at least 32 hours a week Monday – Friday beginning in late May/Early June and ending in late August/Early September; and
  • US work authorization required.

Key Responsibilities may include:

  • Research trends in funding across a variety of donors, countries and clients;
  • Support the preparation of snapshots and capture plans for targeted solicitations;
  • Support efforts to develop cross-selling narratives and past performance narratives on Cardno products and services;
  • Participate in various business development and proposal processes;
  • Assist marketing and branding efforts related to current projects and future bids;
  • Format and revise documents such as statements of work, employee guidelines, and CVs for client submission;
  • Help to create effective proposal info-graphics on past performance, program interventions, process, and innovation;
  • Support logistics for business capture trips;
  • Prepare background briefing materials for capture managers and technical leads;
  • Assist with editing and pricing around proposal efforts;
  • Develop, maintain and update project management and information-sharing tools, including internal databases, files and records;
  • Manage applicant tracking and project management databases; and
  • Make travel and other logistical arrangements to deploy consultants for short-term assignments, and maintain correspondence during deployments.
