Job: Program Manager with International Development Grant Writing Experience

The Payson Center is recruiting for a part-time Program Manager responsible for providing program logistical and management support to overseas projects as well as preparation and writing of potential grants.  The Program Manager provides program development, support, assistance and advocacy to Payson Center faculty and staff, as well as country office staff with whom he/she works focusing on issues related on issues of interest to Payson faculty and staff, including but not limited to law and development, disaster management and risk reduction, integrated public health interventions and institutional capacity building in diverse areas such as education, child development and sustainable infrastructure. Collaborates with faculty, staff and country office staff in activity development and monitoring, including financial monitoring so that project activities and expenditures are tracked and reported. Conducts research for prospective funding opportunities and assists in writing grant proposals to external sponsors that will persuasively communicate Payson Center’s mission and programs to potential funders. Manages and monitors day-to-day procurement and administrative processes for implementing grant activities. This position is located in New Orleans, LA, but will travel globally as needed.

Minimum Qualifications 

  • 2-5 Years experience in International Development and /or Project/Program Management and/or Administration
  • At least 1 year of successful grant writing experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills required
  • Ability to develop and track work plans and budgets
  • Working knowledge of online collaboration tools and Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and Power Point; Internet and email required

Minimum Education

Master’s degree in international development or a related field such as international health or international relations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Overseas experience in developing country contexts useful
  • French and/or Spanish language and/or other foreign language speaking and reading abilities desirable
