Shane Israel Ipatas

Shane Israel Ipatas is a Class of 2014 alumnus with an MS in International Development at the Tulane Law School of Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. He holds an undergraduate degree in Economics (Banking and Finance) from the University of Western Sydney, Australia.

Mr. Ipatas' current work involves heading two community-based NGOs in Enga province of Papua New Guinea (PNG) - where he comes from. He is the founder and program design/proposal coordinator for both NGOs. These initiatives and positions are voluntary. Mr. Ipatas is also the executive director of a Small-Medium Enterprise in PNG.

Mr. Ipatas has over five years of experience in Construction (Civil Works) business particularly focusing on rural infrastructure construction. His SME also specializes in real estate in Papua New Guinea. He also has over two years in the banking industry particularly as a lending officer.

Currently, Mr. Ipatas is undertaking an independent case study (survey) on poverty level of one of the rural communities in Papua New Guinea. He is employing one of the new poverty metrics to measure the poverty level of that PNG rural community. Mr. Ipatas hopes that the results of this baseline survey will form the bases of suitable programs to be designed, funded and implemented by the Local Level Government(s) and its development partners in order to alleviate poverty at the household level in the community.

Mr. Ipatas is innovative, focused and committed to delivering whatever he pursues in school, career and in life. Mr. Ipatas sees himself as both an Entrepreneur and a development professional (trainee). He wishes to be employed in a government or a non-government agency after graduation.
